Lake Winnemucca

This hike starts at the Carson Pass ranger station on highway 88. It passes Frog Lake about one mile into the hike. The trail forks to the left to go to Frog Lake (it is only a few hundred yards). Go to the far side of Frog Lake for a dramatic outlook over Red Lake which is approximately 1,000 yards below. The trail from Frog Lake to Lake Winnemucca is known for it's wild flower displays in late June and early July. The parking lot fills early on weekends, so start early.
